So anyway every Wednesday night you can find me off of 30th ave in Astoria having dinner with some small group ladies: Amy, Tawny, and Sara. Tawny says shes eating her way through the continents, I had to break it to her that after evenings with Thai and Indian food, she was still only in the Asia continent. ha.
Then we all head over to the fabulous home of the Wilkinson newlyweds, also known as Tristan and Melissa, and our life group leaders. Melissa is originally from Los Angeles, and Tristan is from BLO (means Buffalo NY, but I am in love with the abbreviation of BLO).
The Wilkonsons decided to throw a just because party, and so one Saturday night despite rain and gloomy weather I headed over there, and was excited to not have to head into Manhattan for the night. It felt so residential and neighborhoody to be able to hop off the train after two stops and stay in Astoria.
The boys settled in for a long night of poker, and the girls plus one brave husband drank girly drinks and played some rousing games of apples to apples and taboo.
I know it looks like we drank a lot, but really it wasn't that kind of party. ha

So turns out my friend Thelma who lives two blocks away from Melissa told me her roommate was having a party. He's part of this anarchist artist co-op etc etc etc. I decided to hop on over because it was so close by. They had two DJ's, a keg, and a lot of hipster 20 year olds. ha. It was definitely NOT my scene, but I am always up for randomness and being highly amused. So we danced some, watched the hipsters do keg stands, and were entertained with the donation guy. He was auctioning off jello shots, a little bit pushy with his donation jug, and even got someone to pay him $20 to do a keg stand. Annoying yes, but also highly effective.
My friend Thelma who lives in the apartment where the party was, couldn't go to bed till 6 am, I thankfully was home by 3:00 am. Gotta love random Saturday nights in Astoria!

One of the many keg stands I witnessed that night, and yes I felt fairly old.
