One of the beautiful things about living in New York vs. Mexico is that you don't really have to convince friends to visit you, because who doesn't want to come visit New York? Also there are so many people who live here, odds are that you already know someone in this city, and get to rediscover them.
For the record I feel so lucky that I had so many wonderful people visit in Mexico last year:
Mom (twice)
Nanny
Rachel
Jennie (twice)
Jen
Ann
Aubrey
Ashley
Nick
Am I lucky or what?
Anyway back to current time and place, New York. So Facebook is this amazing social took, because it lets you see what people are doing with their lives, where they live, and where they plan to visit. Ali who has been featured in one of my prior blogs, and I went to high school together. We had brunch my first weekend here, and then have both been busy and weren't able to get back together yet.
Well Jill another girl I went to high school with and I became facebook friends a few years back. Many wall posts, and photo comments later, she told me she was coming to new york for a week, and was going to stay with Ali. I hadn't seen Jill since graduation day I guess, back in 1999. ha.
Dinner plans were immediately formed, and then sadly canceled due to me having a cold. bleh. It was one of those things where we had plans for her first night here, then we rescheduled for the following night, cancelled again, and our last hope was Friday night.
Well we met up at Blockheads, home of the always cheap $3 delicious margarita. Hours later Ali joined us, and had to catch up quickly. Basically there was a lot of story swapping, laughter, and even some spilled margaritas that required Jill to later have a dress change.
We contemplated what high school with facebook would have been like, and decided disastrous. We retold stories, remembered old gossip, and filled in the gaps to some other high school mysteries. All in all it was super fun and I wished I had known Jill better back then.
Right before the spill took place
Ali lives in Brooklyn heights
margaritas ensure happiness
It's nice to think though that 10 years later one can reconnect with fun girls, and pick up where you never even left off.
Cheers to SRHS alum in New York!
P.S. I should mention this was the same night that Jennie flew in and I had left my keys at my office. So I was locked out of my apartment, wasn't able to pick up my clothes in time at the laundrymat....so it was held hostage over night (including my pajamas), and jennie's flight ended up getting delayed till 4 am. It was quite the night. ha.
twice sista!
